ABOUT
Corruption and Fraud Audit Consortium (Ghana) limited was formed in March 2010, by Hector Orleans Boham and Samuel RocksonAsamoa, two Ghanaian audit professionals resident in the United States.
Hector and Sam met in 1987 during their MBA program at Pittsburg State University, Kansas in the USA. After graduation Sam went on to obtain his CPA and went into public accounting alongside lecturing at Lousville Kentucky County College. Hector obtained his CIA and worked with the City of New York and other prominent organizations such as US Fund for UNICEF. The two remained friends and always talked about the need to go back to Ghana and make a difference with their rich experiences and education obtained abroad.
In 2010, after Hector’s tenure as Director of Internal Audit at the New York Blood Center ended, he was convinced that it was time to realize his dream of going back to Ghana, and that was the genesis of the impetus and planning that led to the formation of CAFAC.
In 2011, CAFAC opened its doors with 111 students. The inauguration and first lectures were held at the University of Ghana, Business School (UGBS), under the auspices of the able leadership of Professor Domfrey, the Dean. Professor Domfrey was the keynote speaker at the inauguration, and the lectures were led by Trony Clifton, an information technology guru, writer and examiner based in the US and head of Mandem Consulting a member of the CAFAC consortium.
In 2013, CAFAC run into some difficulties which led to a slowdown of operations. After 4 years of a slow recovery CAFAC is now bounced back and ready to resume full operations in June 2017.
Cafac’s goal is to fight what it calls the “EVIL DUET” of “fraud and corruption.” Something which goes on perrenially in Ghana and has often been likened to the synchronization of a ticking clock. In the corridors of power, in schools, in government departments, in the police and sadly even in the judiciary, corruption is the order of the day in the daily lives of Ghanaians. Cafac’s unique paradym is to use education and training to create a critical mass of Ghanaians who will start to turn the tide against corruption.
We believe that the pen is a mighty weapon and education can overcome ignorance, increase awareness and become the achiless heel of fraud and corruption. That we should and can defeat the “evil duet” through the power of the pen. That paper crimes and white collar crimes can equally be defeated by the same paper and pen that was used to commit the crimes in the first place.
